N° 98. Temple of heaven. Peking. This view is taken from the second terrace of N° 97 lookings towards the north. The building with the pointed roof is where the table is kept and in the distance the covered altar is seen, a prominent object. The grotesque heads projecting from the sides of the terrace, serve as drains to carry off the surface water.
Au recto dans l'image et inversé, en bas à gauche : "T. Child / 1875 - Temple of heaven Peking". Au verso, en bas à gauche, tampon à l'encre violette : "Thos. Child / Peking - n°98".
L'épreuve est accompagnée d'un cartouche collé sous l'image contenant une description du sujet imprimée en anglais.
